Certificate 4 in Financial Services

This is an introductory course that meets the entry requirements for those seeking to work as finance or mortgage brokers

Certificate 4 in Financial Services is made up of five program areas as follows.

Area 1: Professional Practice

In this area you will learn how to. 

  • Apply principles of professional practice to work in the financial services industry
  • Comply with financial services, legislation, industry and professional codes of practice
  • Manage self in finance and/or mortgage broking industry
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of products and services used by your organisations or industry sector

Area 2: Workplace Communications

In this area how to communicate in the financial services workplace will be addressed.

Area 3: Workplace Technology

In this area the technology used in the financial service workplace will be addressed.

Area 4: Occupational Health and Safety

In this area occupational health and safety as it applies to the  financial service workplace will be addressed.

Area 5: Prospecting for new clients

In this area sales and marketing as it applies to the practice of finance/mortgage broking will be addressed.

Area 6 The Broking Process

This is a practical introduction to the processes involved in providing finance. 


Who Should Enrol?

Essential for all who wish to practice as mortgage/finance brokers. 

Pre-requisites for entry into this course are:

  • Be over 18 years of age
    and
  • Have English language, literacy and numeracy skills to the standard required to attain School Certificate or equivalent
    or
  • A CV that demonstrates an ability to function effectively in employment or business to the level required to independently read, interpret and apply workplace information.
    or
  • If from a non-English speaking background, be proficient in the use of English to the level of International English Language testing System (IELTS) level 6.0

Distance Education

This is a Blended Course and provides maximum opportunity for remote students. A Blended course is one in which course delivery and support for learning are provided through a blend of methods including

  • remote contact (e.g. telephone, video conferencing, and email),
  • face to face,
  • individual support and
  • online resources and guidance.

Blended learning allows the best of each mode of delivery to be available to students. Its flexibility maximises opportunities to accommodate the individual learning styles and life circumstances of students.

This course cannot be done completely remotely. Whilst much of it can be achieved remotely, all students are required to demonstrate the ability to conduct face to face interviews by video or in direct contact with an authorised assessor.
