BSB51107 - Diploma of Management

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who are engaged to manage the work of others or to add value to or review management practices. Their role may be in any industry or organisational setting.

Typically people in these roles will have considerable experience in their respective industries or vocational areas and combine an informed perspective of specific work requirements with their managerial approaches. The qualification requires a sound theoretical knowledge base and managerial competencies to plan, carry out and evaluate own work or the work of a team.

This course is committed to an “open learning environment”. Instead of focusing on set and/or in-house texts, this enjoyable course equips you to gather information from the sources you will need in your role. Examples of these are industry publications, regulator websites and industry websites.

Suitability and Opportunities

This course is appropriate for those:

·         Persons who are wishing to upgrade their existing skills to be able to effectively work within business services sector especially the field of management.

·         Current employees who are wishing to enhance their existing skill set or to make a change in career pathways within the business services sector into management.

·     Persons who are seeking to be promoted or who are currently employed seeking to take on a management role within the business services sector.

Persons who are fully experienced within this vocational area and are seeking formal recognition of their existing skills.

Attainment of this qualification may enable the participant to fill positions as Accounts Supervisor, Executive Personal Assistant, Officer Administrator or Project Assistant

Delivery

This program is delivered either within an institution-based environment or via recognition of prior learning pathway.

Institution Based

This mode of training will also combine theory-based material and practical sessions involving small discussion groups, individual and team activities and practical projects.

Throughout the entire training program participants will be provided with training and resource materials that contains various worksheets, handouts, additional reading materials and the assessment tasks. These materials will be developed in-house.

Recognition of Prior Learning

This training pathway enables students to apply for recognition of prior learning when they are seeking to have their existing skills recognised.

The assessor will interview the student who wishes to undertake the RPL pathway and outline what is involved in the RPL process and the types of information to be gathered as part of the process. This interview process can occur face to face, over the phone or by other designated methods including online video chat or similar via the internet.

Assessment

Assessment is by short tests, case studies, projects, workbook activities and written assignments.

This course is designed to maximise flexibility. Supported by the Academy's online learning management system, it will be delivered in customised blends [1] of the above.

Entry Requirements

Pre-requisites for entry into this course are: 
    • Be over 18 years of age
      and
    • Have English language, literacy and numeracy skills to the standard required to attain Higher School Certificate or equivalent
      or
    • A CV that demonstrates an ability to function effectively in employment or business to the level required to independently read, interpret and apply workplace information
      or
    • If from a non-English speaking background, be proficient in the use of English to the level of International English Language testing System (IELTS) level 6.0.
It is envisioned that those enrolling in this course are in a role where they can demonstrate responsibility for team or business unit performance and should be fairly self-directed and autonomous, working under broad guidance.
